Where a cut falls apart

Weighing isn't the hard part. Weighing twenty evenings in a row is the hard part.

The first week goes fine. You weigh the rice, log the chicken, and the app says you're on track. In week two the same ritual suddenly takes effort, and by week three you're usually guessing.

Guessing isn't the problem. Guessing in the wrong direction is, and that happens on exactly the evenings you're tired, because that's when the portion turns out bigger than you think.

A 425-gram tray doesn't guess. It always weighs the same, it's always prepared the same way, and it's already there.

What's in a tray

Every tray says what's in it. That's the whole system.

A blue SportMeals tray with its label: product name, weight and the macro boxes for kcal, protein, carbs and fat

On the right of the label are four boxes: kilocalories, protein, carbs and fat. Those are the same four numbers you'd otherwise look up yourself. For the 425-gram Get lean package, the baseline looks like this:

kcal
531
protein
40 g
carbs
57 g
fat
12 g

Package value per 425-gram meal. Per dish it ranges from 530 to 604 kcal and from 38 to 42 grams of protein; you'll find those per flavour below.

  • Preparation on the label: 6 minutes at 800 watts, stir halfway
  • Shelf life and best-before date on the sticker, not just on the website
  • Allergens per dish on the product page

What we think of it ourselves

Two numbers we won't talk around

3.5 g

Salt, average per meal. Across the whole range it runs from 1 to 5 grams. The Dutch Consumers' Association (Consumentenbond) uses 2 grams as the guideline for a meal, so we're above that. We think you should know that before you order, not after.

6.9 g

Fibre, average per meal, ranging from 1 to 13 grams. We don't fix how many grams of vegetables go into each tray, so we don't quote that number either. What is in it is on the label.

Questions

What you want to know before you commit to two weeks

Do the macros on the label match what I enter in my app?
The values on the label are for the whole tray, not per 100 grams. So log one tray as one portion. You'll find the exact values per dish on the product page, and on this page they're listed with each flavour.
Why does the package say 531 kcal and the dishes 530 to 604?
531 is the package value, a guideline figure for 425 grams. The individual dishes each differ slightly from it, from 530 to 604 kcal. We show both, because quoting only the package figure would look more precise than it is.
How much salt is in it?
On average 3.5 grams per meal, ranging from 1 to 5 grams across the range. The Dutch Consumers' Association (Consumentenbond) uses 2 grams as the guideline, so we're above that. It's listed per dish on the product page.
How do I heat a tray?
Frozen: 6 minutes at 800 watts, stir halfway. Thawed: about 3 minutes at 800 watts. In the oven: 20 minutes at 120 °C. The stirring matters, otherwise the middle stays cold.
How long does it keep?
Up to a year after the production date at −18 °C or colder. After thawing, 48 hours in the fridge. So spreading two weeks over three weeks is no problem.
Where are the allergens listed?
Per dish on the product page and on the sticker on the tray. There you'll see both what a meal contains and what it's free from, for example gluten, lactose, soy, peanut and nuts.
When is it delivered?
Order before 10:00 on a working day and it's at your door the same evening, between 17:00 and 22:00, with Trunkrs and track and trace. The box travels with dry ice at −80 °C and keeps the meals frozen for up to 48 hours.
Am I tied to anything?
No. No subscription, no renewal. You order again when your freezer runs empty.
